Aiko has a Bachelor of Sciences in Architectural Studies and was a Kitchen Planner at IKEA prior to his retirement. As an AmeriCorps program coordinator at Temple University, he created strategies for independence and inclusion for persons with disabilities. He also worked with Temple’s Augmentative Communication and Empowerment Supports (ACES) program assisting people, primarily with cerebral palsy, to find assistive communication technology to help them find their voice. Aiko is a former board member at Best Buddies International, the Third World Coalition within the American Friends Service Committee, and Liberty Resources, Inc . Today he is a regular member of Disabled in Action and ADAPT, in addition to his role as a board member at the Women's Community Revitalization Project. Aiko is also a key local organizer of the recent Philadelphia #Medicare4All actions.
