What is your Big Idea for Philadelphia?
Better than Bezos: My plan for creating 50,000 jobs in Philadelphia
And unlike Jeff Bezos and Amazon, my plan doesn't require massive tax subsidies and doesn't introduce countless dangerous economic pressures into the city that we love the most.
My idea is to focus a grassroots effort to help people in our own city become a successful freelancer or solo business owner, rather than see entrepreneurship as a high-stakes game of raising venture capital and building the next giant company.
Instead we focus on creating an interdependent network of individuals, working individually but together to make the leap from surviving as an independent, to thriving as an independent. I'll show how this path creates more job opportunities than Amazon was promising, and in a way that actually make sense in Philadelphia.
Ambitiously, I would love to see Philadelphia become THE city that people choose to live in when they choose to be Independent, because they know they are valued and supported.
But I can't do that alone, so I'd love to share this vision with as many potential collaborators as possible.
